Want Relief

This week we read a text call Want Relief it’s about a resilient few people that survived being shipwreck around 400 kms away from the closet civilisation, The Stewart Islands. They survived because of they’re resilient daughter. They’re daughter, Nellie, made a miniature lifeboat carrying a message to rescue them.

Here is the diary that I made from Nellie’s perspective

Duffy Show

Today we had a duffy show. It was a group of three that performed a performance about Krystal Kea and her weetbix card is wrong so Duffy and Scruffy the main characters became detectives and found out the problem. It was really cool to see some gen alpha slang in that because he said what the sigma and he was mewing. Overall it was a super fun and cool performance to watch.

Shoutout to Duffy for making this amazing wonderful show here is a funny photo from the show:

Like,Share,Subscribe

This week we were learning to think carefully about text and understand the main ideas and looking at different point of views. We also read a text called Like, Share, Subscribe. The text is about a family of four. The parents are obsessed with social media. So the children are fed up with all of the personal things that the parents have been posting about them. So the children set some ground rules around what they post about the kids on social media.

We’ve also made a poster to promote the healthy and safe use of social media

Here is my poster:

Music

In the past to terms we have been learning about music. In music we’ve been learning about some of the different notes like the quarter note. We called the quarter note ta and clapped or stomped. Then we learnt about the eighth note and said ta-di and we ether clapped of stomped. We also learnt how to write these two notes. Then we converted stomping and clapping to using different instruments like a plastic bag. We’ve created these videos of us trying out different instrument to make a music piece of our own.

Here is my group’s video down below.

The Plastic Free Challenge

This week we having been learning to skim and scan quickly through texts the text that we have been skimming and scanning through a text called The Plastic Free Challenge and a video called Sacha’s Social action project. The Plastic Free Challenge was about a school that wanted to help the planet by doing their part in reducing the amount off plastic. They reduced their amount of plastic by either recycling it or making into miniature plastic version of marine life. Sacha’s Social Action Project was about her trying to make a difference in her community by holding a non-uniform day, but instead of donating money she chose for people to donate food instead. Then after they finished getting all of that food they donated all of it to the food bank. She wanted to do all of this to support and give back to her community.

Movie Making

In the past few weeks in Paihia School everybody in our class has been going through the process of making a movie. My group made a movie about a group of school friends that find a haunted place and go inside but it was all just a prank on one of the friends. One thing that I think that my group did well was our editing and speaking really clearly. I personally think that it was a really hard process especially with people in my group having different opinions. Next time I think that our group could all be on the same page and all know what was happening. Somethings that we needed to really needed to touch up on properly was making sure that the quality of the camera was good another problem was we needed to make sure there was all the right information and enough that the audience wouldn’t have to guess. We learnt a lot of life lessons that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Lesson like making sure your working in the right group with the right people.

Plastic Planet

This week in Te Ngahere we read a poem and we were learning to look at both sides of the text. Then trying to figure out which side that the poem was on the bad things about plastic or the good things. Personally I think that plastic is bad. I also think that the poem is aiming for the good sides of plastic rather than the bad.

Here is my comic strip video on a conversation about plastic and my group conversation reflection:

Plastic is an essential part of modern life, and we can’t live without it.

In today’s discussion I had the role of the initiator

The part I  found easy was knowing the right time to say something.

The part I found hard was trying not to interrupt when I wanted to and holding back.

Next time I should aim to always wait for my turn to speak.
